The MeLa Media Lab is a structure of the Iuav University of Venice, founded in 2008 by Malvina Borgherini and Luciano Comacchio, which deals with training, research, and development in the field of representation and communication of architecture and design, cultural products, visual and performing arts. The MeLa Media Lab represents a complex network scenario built in years of relationships, a team working with vision and passion for projects that can break the rules and embrace the spirit of research and experimentation.
We cross and relate different professional skills from universities and local companies on the themes of representation and interaction in research fields, administration of artistic and cultural heritage, and production in design and architecture.

Different professionals, knowledge, and experiences converge in the MeLa collective: experts and scholars of representation and communication; IT; specialists in the field of human-machine interaction and interactive artifacts; art and architecture historians; performance historians; semiologists; artists; web designers; product and communication designer; economists; directors; perception psychologists; philosophers of science.
The research objectives conducted in the laboratory are the study and experimentation of systems and methods for the production and representation of artifacts in the fields of visual arts, theatre, design, and architecture on a local and territorial scale.

At MeLa Research we conduct research, experimentation, and development projects in multisensory interaction for architecture, design, cultural products, and the performing arts.
